Technical Appraisal System

The “Pavement Preservation Technical Assistance Review and Evaluation of State Programs” project offers State Highway Agencies (SHAs) a unique, risk-free opportunity to build a solid and effective pavement preservation program.  The objective is to suggest approaches that can strengthen existing pavement preservation programs or assist agencies to implement new ones.  The assessment identifies, through a professional peer review, demonstrated practices and procedures used to improve the highway network pavement condition without necessitating a funding increase.  The assessment output becomes a valuable road map for the SHA to identify strategic opportunities that maximize associated preservation benefits including longer lasting, smoother, safer pavements with reduced work zones and less congestion both locally within the subject State and nationally.

It is a primary goal of the NCPP and FHWA to make this information as accessible and useful as possible, and we welcome your comments and suggestions.
