MPPP Task Forces

1. Webinar – Develop panelist lead interactive webinars discussing pavement preservation fixes, materials, or other related content for an international audience of state, provincial, and local transportation agencies.
2. Roundtable – Provide an interactive virtual peer exchange for Midwest state, provincial and local transportation agencies to discuss solicited topics including, but not limited to materials, specifications, construction practices, equipment, pavement management, etc.

1. Webinar – Broadcast a new webinar quarterly and post the recording to the NCPP website in the video library. There is no expected completion date.
2. Roundtable – Hold a minimum of two forums yearly. There is no expected completion date as these forums are driven by agency questions.

1. Agency Treatment Quantity & Cost Database – Oversight of the Treatment Quantity & Cost Database, including the annual call out for agency preservation treatment data, updating database terminology, and guidance on functionality of the database. The database is maintained by NCPP and hosted on the website.
2. Agency Specifications, Special Provisions and Best Practices – Collect and share information on agency preservation treatment specifications. This work is in the development stage with plans to host results on the NCPP website. 

1. Agency Treatment Quantity & Cost Database – Maintain the database of state agency preservation treatments that includes estimated treatment life, estimated pavement life extension from the treatment, treatment types used, miles of pavement treated annually, and average treatment cost. Call out to agencies to add data is completed annually. Agencies can add data at any time. 
2. Agency Specifications, Special Provisions and Best Practices – Compile information on state agency preservation treatment specifications, special provisions and best practices. The intent is to compile a list of treatments used by each Agency with information on the number of years the specification has been in use, amount of use, and degree of success the agency has experienced with the specification. This resource is in development. An initial survey for information was completed in June 2025.  

The treatment toolbox varies from one state to another. The list of treatments will be regularly reviewed to add to the list or update definitions.

1A-2 Provide Estimated Treatment Life

State DOTs and local agencies have different experiences with the longevity of their treatments. This sub-task will provide the estimated treatment life for those treatments used by the agency and be updated as experience is gained.

1A-3 Furnish Treatment Estimated Life Extensions

Forecasting the pavement life extending value is an important aspect of using a pavement preservation treatment. The task force will collect estimated life extension for the treatments used by the agency.

1A-4 Add Treatment Average Cost Data

Treatment costs vary with the size and project location. The average cost and other project data for each treatment will be collected to help agencies prepare estimates when trying a new treatment.

1B-1   Compile Treatment Specifications and Special Provisions 

State DOTs and local agencies have written specifications for the treatments they use.  Agencies writing a treatment specification for the first time, or improving an existing specification, can be assisted with examples of other specifications used in the region.  The goal is to collect current specifications and display them on the partnership website  

1B-2   Maturity of Specification Use 

It is important that agencies reviewing the specification database know the number of years that a specification has been in use.  The date of specification development will be indicated and amount of use (Rarely, Occasional, Often). 

1B-3   Attain the Degree of Success Using the Specification

Specifications have varying levels of success.  Knowing the historical success of a treatment specification is an important aspect of an agency’s review process.  Specifications collected will be marked as: Consistently Proven, Proven, or Incomplete.
