Concrete Task Force Objectives
CTF has four overarching objectives:
- Advance the effort to develop methods and specifications for concrete-related preservation treatments and technologies.
- Advocate adoption of uniform national standards
- Advance quality assurance, training, and certification
- Ensure nation-wide acceptance and implementation of new test methods, quality systems, and identify future needs.
Concrete Task Force Membership
CTF include the following representatives of contributing states to the AASHTO Preservation Management TSP:
- Robert Hogan, Caltrans, Co-Chair
- John Senger, Illinois DOT
- Jason Simmons, Utah DOT
- Larry Ilg, Oregon DOT
- Robert Spragg (FHWA)
Note: There are 2 other vacancies waiting to be filled because of the recent departing/retirement from state employment of previous members.
In addition, as in the case of the ETF, a large number of diverse participants and contributors from FHWA, industry, academia, and other stakeholders, volunteer their time, knowledge, and experiences.
Concrete Task Force Accomplishments
CTF has, as of late, developed and published Diamond Grinding as a preservation treatment. It has also finalized Concrete Pavement Preservation guidelines related to Dowel Bar Retrofit (DBR). The latter has already been balloted and awaiting publication as an AASHTO document. The next two guidelines currently on the works are on Joint Sealing and Cross-Stitching, respectively.
CTF has also delivered Skill Share webinars on various concrete pavement preservation guidelines, techniques and practices including the retrofitting of dowel bars and diamond grinding.
